Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: sword of destiny.

Entertaining but no more than that. I can't recall what I thought of the original. But I suspect this sequel suffers from the sequel disease that it's not better or equal to the original.

Watched Deadpool and Zoolander 2 recently.

Deadpool was pretty good, gory at times, and overall a funny movie. However, the constant breaking of the 4th wall was quite distracting despite the comedy sometimes.

Zoolander 2 was quite a waste of time. It had some funny moments but the story line was bad. Just bad.

Isn't breaking the 4th wall deadpool's ability?  It should be expected, though you'd think it would make for a very short movie. Just like a 5 minute short that goes like this
-Deadpool breaks 4th wall
-Understands the plot.
-skips everything not in plot
-the end

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Loved it. I know saying this is going to make some fans groan, but I think this is my favorite film in the series. It all boils down to the characters and The Force Awakens marks the first time that I have liked/enjoyed ALL of the main characters in a Star Wars film. Yes, even Kylo Ren. Especially, Kylo Ren.

I was not bothered by the similarities to A New Hope. Perhaps it is because I haven't seen any of the original trilogy films in at least a decade and was never one to rewatch them over and over before that. It might be because I view the film as a changing of the guard, our old heroes handing off the reins of the story to the new, and feel that building the new beginning off the back of the old isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I did have a problem with parts of the story being rushed or even left out for the sake of time, but that did not diminish my enjoyment of the film.

Watched The Big Short tonight. I didn't recognize Brad Pitt. I prefer to compliment his surgeon and/or his acting and/or his fluffy face hair rather than denigrate my facial recognition skills. Aside from that, it had a couple amusing/interesting devices for explaining omplicated economic (if you can quite call it that) concepts. Decent. Informative!

Bond: Spectre

Not the most terrible of the Bond films, and certainly no where close to the trainwreck that was QoS, but there really wasn't enough working in the film for me to like it. Take the use of Christoph Waltz, for example, who despite being the main villain is in about three scenes. Andrew Scott is used much more but just doesn't command the stage in quite the same way. It's a bit unfortunate as I love Craig and Lea Seydoux ('Blue is the warmest colour' is a great Bond girl, but not enough happens plot wise to really grab me.

He Never Died

Henry Rollins plays a cannibalistic immortal trying to keep clean. His attempts to keep off the flesh go awry when the local mafia starts randomly giving him trouble, the daughter he never knew he had shows up, and the small town diner's one attractive waitress tries to make her attraction obvious.

It was a good film, I enjoyed it. Rollins does aloof well and it serves for some really funny moments throughout the movie.

I watched Interstellar. I haven't enjoyed a Christopher Nolan film since 2000's Memento, so my expectations were so low they'd started to burrow into the ground. Perhaps that is why I enjoyed it so much.

I watched Zootopia on a friend's recommendation. I enjoyed it, but I enjoy most animated films. A very cute movie.

Kubo and the Two Strings. It was adorable and heart-string-pulling (especially towards the end). Also, it gets an automatic +10 points for being beautifully animated in stop motion, primarily puppetry.

I think I may go see that on my coming weekend. It looks good and there is nothing else I'm interested in seeing.

Kubo and the Two Strings - The animation was beautiful and the story was good with some unexpectedly dark thematic elements. The pacing was a bit wonky though and I'll always question hiring Matthew McConaughey as a voice actor.

Night Owls - Randomly chosen romantic comedy type movie from Netflix. It wasn't bad.

Ms. Peregrine's home for peculiar children. Nice Tim Burton movie. Wouldn't mind seeing a sequel.

haven't seen the movie, but if it ended on the same note as the book, you're DEFINITELY getting a sequel.

Inception rewatch.
Also a few Shah Rukh Khan flicks on TV. Nom. Dancing /is/ the universal language (though Bollywood turns into comedy without the drama elements in the dialogue).

It ended with a boat of which I presume will be their new mobile shelter.

I watched Jupiter Ascending the other day. It was worse than I thought it would be and my expectations were so low that they brushed the dirt.
