This might be a suitable place and a suitable date to tell this story:
Blues Traveller plays a concert every year at a nearby outdoor venue, on 4th of July. Last year, my mother treated myself and Joey to attendance, so we went. My mum had a Blues Traveller t-shirt that I remember her wearing when I was a kid, but I wasn't very familiar with their music, nor was Joe. My older sister recommended them, and she was the one who talked me into saying 'sure'. Anyway, so we drive down to Red Rocks, and find parking, and walk in, and walk up the massive numbers of stairs, and then more stairs, and finally sit down just as the opener is finishing their last couple of songs. We chat a little, and listen. The band below moves out, and another band moves in -- this is around 7:00, 8:00 pm. We (rather foolishly) assume that this band is actually Blues Traveler, but.... their singer doesn't bring out a harmonica, and Mum talks about how the songs don't sound familiar, and after about an hour of listening to songs we don't know, we decide to go.
My sister only recently told us about how some of her friends, who were at that concert, said the Travelers were awesome..... and that they came on at 10:00, after the Front Range firework displays (all of which are visible from the stadium). Gah.
By the way, this is why it's called Red Rocks:
(that's facing south-west, there's an identical upcrop on the north, and the whole place is made out of that stone.)
